The History of Mascote da Atalaia.

Mascote da Atalaia is a tavern with more than five decades of fado. The old tavern  as described by the photographer Luis Pavão in the late 1970's: ...

" a humble tavern, tiny in size, with a wide door, wooden stools, marble tables and a long counter, where you could listen to Fado  every night. A poor place with little more than wine, beer and peanuts. But the fado show was superb, the singers followed one after the other, with many people signing up and asking to sing.  At the door the crowd filled the street. It was always full of people, including tourists and intellectuals from Lisbon. " An emblematic place.
